At our April member's meeting, Wodonga Chamber of Commerce and Wodonga Institute of TAFE signed a memorandum of understanding.
The aim of the MOU is to provide a foundation for a strong and mutually beneficial long term relationship which will deliver significant benefits to the business and industry community in Wodonga.
TEACHERS from Wodonga TAFE will be seconded to work with Wodonga Chamber of Commerce on short-term projects. TAFE chief executive Michael O'Loughlin said the projects would be aimed at meeting the training needs of chamber members.
He said the projects would also be aimed at accessing the appropriate funding, negating the need for members to dip into their own pockets.
“In the long term, the partnership is also about the long-term sustainability of the chamber, with a portion of the revenue flow coming back to the chamber,” Mr O'Loughlin said.
“It's not just about training with the chamber. There will be a program where we will work with individual businesses to complete a needs analysis, develop a program for them and work with their staff.
“We look forward to a productive working relationship.”
Chamber president Allison Jenvey said the partnership was about improving the chamber's service to its members and determining how to meet their needs.
“We are now formalising what has already been a solid relationship with TAFE,” she said.
The three-year memorandum of understanding has more than a dozen agreed areas of co-operation, including the up-skilling of the Wodonga workforce, the annual development of a Wodonga business and industry training plan, the sourcing of funding to support the delivery of training to local business and the promotion of Wodonga Institute of TAFE and its courses to local business.
